Dr. Georgios Kotsakis & Dr. Michael A. Pikos shares how StellaLife helps in healing.

Video Transcription:

Dr. Georgios Kotsakis - It increases the transcription of collagen genes. That's what they found, that collagen gene transcription is increased with StellaLife from fibroblasts and bone cells. We found the actual collagen protein is increased. So put the two and two together. Collagen increase in production is one key thing that it does, and the other one, it increases the mobility and proliferation of these cells. I think these are the two main mechanisms, how we know it works in wound healing. That's important because as I was saying before, you want your bone cells to grow on the implant surface, but these are the slowest growing cells in our bodies. Then you get competition from bacteria, and you get competition from epithelium on this implant surface. What I'm all for now, and I really like StellaLife and homeopathic remedies that work in that direction is selectivity. We want to come up with tools that are not just a fit, a jack of all trade, but selectively work on specific cell types or against the specific cell types so we can really optimize and tailor them to our approaches. We have found that StellaLife works in that regard.
More comments regarding StellaLife. Can you expand on that more in terms of mechanism of basically how it's working? Wound healing, you said, certainly accelerates. Numbers have used it for four or five years and have seen amazing results with regard to our large cases in particular. In bone, top tissue graffing, et cetera. But regarding specifically with perimplantitis, the importance of accelerated wound healing.

Dr. Michael A. Pikos - Yeah, absolutely. Perimplantitis is a very challenging defect because we have a competitive repopulation of the implant surface. On the one hand, we put bone graft there. What do we want on the implant surface? We want bone. New bone cells we want them to first latch onto and then start proliferating and making collagen and make an osteoid matrix. What we have found that StellaLife does. Interestingly, I don't know if Rick Myron is here in the audience, but interestingly, in parallel with our work on StellaLife, he was also working on that in burn. We found the exact same thing, that it increases the transcription of collagen genes.
